Doug and Deb Erb farm in Landaff, New Hampshire. They milk about 100 Registered Holsteins on their farm, Springvale Farms. They have been producing quality milk since Doug’s parents purchased the farm in 1950 and decided to make a value added product that they could sell direct to the consumer. This year they have started Landaff Creamery. A farmstead cheese making facility where they make Landaff, a raw cow’s milk cheese based on the Welsh caerphilly recipe Doug learned from Chris Duckett and Dr. Jemima Cordle at Westcombe farms, England.
Doug and Deb have 3 grown children. Jennifer and her husband, Dale have twin sons and live in CT where Dale is stationed with the Navy. Jenn works for Central Connecticut Feed Co-op. Peter and his wife, Shawnda live in AL where Peter is a Warrant Officer in the Army at flight school. Matthew is a firefighter/paramedic on the Fort Lauderdale, FL fire department.
When they are not farming or making cheese, Doug is Assistant Chief on the Landaff FD, as well as selectmen in Landaff. Deb is an EMT on the Lisbon Life Squad, as well as on the planning board. Deb is also a founding board member of the New England Family Dairy Farms, co-operative, serving as secretary/clerk. Deb is also a member of the Agri-Mark, Inc. co-operative, which owns the Cabot and McCadam brands. They farm 400 acres in 3 different towns along the Ammonoosuc River, which starts at the Lake of the Clouds on Mount Washington. They are the last working dairy farm before entering the White Mountains. 100 Acres of their farm are in a managed wood lot, and is open to hunting and hiking.
